The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.
Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.
“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”
This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.
A Future Secured
Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
