Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
