Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.
The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.
Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.
O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.
The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
