American performer Finn, who was seen in beloved television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in LA on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"He never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a message.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.

The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
